What drew you to your career?

I was intent on pursuing a career in aviation or aeronautics (pilot or engineer) however a series of events while pursuing this led me to switch to the civil engineering career pathway. The stability and employment opportunities and being able to use my aptitude for mathematics and science drew me towards this career.

What is your favourite part of your role?

My favourite part of the role is twofold:

1) Meeting and working with diverse groups of people from blue-collar trades to C-suite executives where different perspectives are shared and challenged;

2) On a technical level, converting a concept or an idea into physical reality and all the steps in between is an extremely satisfying process.

What does unlocking hidden value mean to you?

For me unlocking hidden value is about being able to better understand complex systems or problems, applying my unique interests and experience and developing and implementing innovative solutions which have a lasting impact.

What is your proudest achievement, greatest learning?

My greatest learning is that the most uncomfortable, stressful, or difficult situations always turned out to be the most rewarding in retrospect. Whenever I have these feelings, I know I’m doing something worthwhile.

What are your passions, hobbies, interests outside of work?

Electronics and amateur radio (vintage hybrid transceivers), aviation (FPV UAV), E9X series BMWs (fixing error codes on a weekly basis), and  boating & fishing (getting the kids away from the TV).
